How many app stores is too many? Facebook today has launched their own app store based on software applications that in some ways leverage integration such as authentication or the sharing of achievements with friends with the popular social media site. Most likely as part of Facebook’s continued monetization and profitability efforts, this new store called App Center for iOS and Android stocks only applications that drive popularity of Facebook, which in turn is driving the popularity of the apps themselves, creating a positive feedback and traffic loop. Facebook will add an App Center link in the left-hand sidebar of every Facebook desktop page and from there you can browse the store’s current selection of around 600 apps. Look for a Facebook mobile app update very soon.
