May 23rd, 2012 ⋅ News ⋅ by DigiAc3 ⋅ 409 ViewsWith nearly 100,000 fans in attendance over three days, Insomniac, the premier producer of electronic dance music festivals in North America, and Pacha New York announced the safe and successful conclusion of the inaugural three-day New York edition of the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) music festival.
Held at MetLife Stadium from May 18th – 20th, the festival featured a spectacular display of special effects, pyrotechnics, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, world class musical talent, as well as hundreds of costumed theatrical performers, interactive art installations and carnival rides. EDC New York created a multi-sensory experience unlike any other event in the tri-state area.
“Music festivals of this magnitude require a tremendous amount of advanced planning and Insomniac’s success was made possible in part by the efforts of our partners including local law enforcement, the staff at MetLife Stadium and our friends at Pacha,” said Pasquale Rotella, CEO and founder of Insomniac.
The debut New York edition sold out its first allotment of tickets in just hours, prompting the producers to add an extra day and expand capacity.
“The fans deserve only the best entertainment and I’m so pleased that we were able to produce a show that was both entertaining and safe,” said Eddie Dean, co-owner of Pacha New York who partnered with Insomniac to produce the event.
“Insomniac and Pacha are proud to play a role in the success of the EDC New York music festival, an event that has tremendous economic and cultural benefits for our region,” added Dean. “EDC is rapidly becoming one of the great music events in the world.”
“Our fans asked Insomniac to produce an event in the New York area, and with our unique festival experience, advanced production, and talented team of performers and artists we created something truly special. It was an incredible crowd; we’re especially thankful to have such extraordinary fans who dress up and participate in what we create. We’re already looking at ways to enhance next year’s EDC New York experience,” concluded Rotella.
The 16th annual Electric Daisy Carnival festival will take place in Las Vegas, June 8-10, 2012 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and is set to entertain more than 300,000 fans. In 2011 the 15th annual Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas, shattered attendance records as more than 230,000 attendees came to experience the three-day show.
