Dearest festival loving party people of the world,
I’m sure many of you are dismayed to learn that Ultra and Coachella have sold out earlier than ever before. The increasing popularity of these shows the last few years have not only attracted festival loving party people, but also the mortal enemy of the festival loving party person- the scalper.
Scalpers know that fans will pay so they buy up tons of tickets and make a killing every year. In fact, scalping has become such a problem that festivals like Glastonbury in the UK now have a system where your name and photo are attached to every purchase so only fans are able to buy. Since Ultra and Coachella aren’t there yet we need to do what we can to shut this shit down.
It’s simple- DON’T BUY FROM THESE FUCKTARDS. I know it’s hard, you want to go sooo bad! Don’t worry, you can still go it’s just a matter of waiting them out. Scalpers are in this to make money, if everyone refuses to pay their outrageous prices they will have to sell at face value just to break even.
Promoters have completely lost control of these guys, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem was so furious about scalpers buying up all the tickets to their last show at Madison Square Gardens that he decided to host private shows beforehand for fans who don’t have $800 to drop on a single seat. That’s nice and all but it doesn’t solve the problem because it’s already out of control.
Furthermore, there are risks to buying from scalpers i.e. FAKE TICKETS!! Yes, we’ll never forget the Hard 13 in 2009 we spent outside standing around like dicks cause we made the mistake of buying from scalpers. These tickets were perfect too, the only thing off was the date. $400 later we were completely fucked.
We need to take back control. Please share this with your friends and don’t let the scalpers win.
